Membership of the Trust is open to every resident of Mull and Iona, and to supporters living elsewhere. There are over 300 individual members. Many sit on project steering groups or volunteer in the charity shops.
Members’ numbers matter. They are how the Trust shows funders and government that the work it does has real support behind it.
What members get
- a say in the direction of the Trust
- volunteering opportunities on project steering groups and in the Island Castaways charity shops
- the right to stand as a volunteer director
- invitations to community events
- news and updates from across Mull and Iona
- a welcome at board meetings
How to join
Memberships last a lifetime. There are no renewal fees. Choose the membership that fits and pay once.
TO CONFIRM: The brief for this rebuild says membership is free for residents. The old site charges £5 for a Standard Island Resident Lifetime Membership. Both cannot be right. The table above is copied exactly from the old site. The Steering Group needs to decide which is correct, confirm the prices are current, and the page must be rewritten if membership is now free.
TO CONFIRM: The five links in the table go to product pages on the old WooCommerce shop. Confirm whether the new site keeps a shop, and remap or replace these links.
If you would rather not pay online, you can download and print a membership form, fill it in and post it to the office: MICT Membership Form 2019.
TO CONFIRM: That form is dated 2019. MICT needs to supply a current version, or we drop the download and take joining online only.
Post completed forms to Mull and Iona Community Trust, An Roth Community Enterprise Centre, Craignure, Isle of Mull, PA65 6AY. Call 01680 812900 or email enquiries@mict.co.uk if you have a question.
The AGM and the board
The Trust is run by a board of volunteer directors, all unpaid. Up to 14 are elected from the membership, with one representative each from Mull Community Council and Iona Community Council. Members are welcome at board meetings as well as at the annual general meeting, and minutes of both are published.
If you are interested in standing as a director, contact Mairi Greig on mgreig@mict.co.uk or 01680 812910. There is a board member recruitment pack with more detail.
TO CONFIRM: Nothing on the old site says when the AGM is held, where, how members are given notice, or how nominations for the board work. All of that needs to come from MICT.
