Key contacts

Numbers for the services islanders need when something has gone wrong at home. For an emergency, dial 999.

Power cuts

Dial 105 to report a power cut or damaged electricity equipment. It is free, it works from a mobile or a landline anywhere in Great Britain, and it puts you through to the network operator for your area. Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks runs the network in this part of Scotland.

TO CONFIRM: Neither the electricity network operator nor the water authority named on this page appears anywhere on the old MICT site. Both were added as the obvious candidates. Confirm both before publication.

If a power line has come down, keep well clear and dial 999.

TO CONFIRM: Only 105 is certain. Confirm SSEN’s direct number, their power cut information page, and how island customers register for the priority services register before any of those are added.

Water

Scottish Water is responsible for the public water supply and for public sewers across Scotland.

TO CONFIRM: Scottish Water’s emergency number is not evidenced on the old site and is not written here. Confirm it, and confirm what a household on a private supply should do, which is common in the islands.

The council

Argyll and Bute Council is the local authority for Mull and Iona.

TO CONFIRM: Confirm the council’s main number, its out-of-hours emergency number, and the right route for reporting a road, a housing or a social work concern. None of these are evidenced on the old site.

Doctors and health centres

Health service contacts are held on Emergency contacts.

TO CONFIRM: Health centre names, numbers and hours are missing from the old site entirely, so that page cannot yet answer this either.

Mull and Iona Community Trust

Mull and Iona Community Trust An Roth Community Enterprise Centre Craignure Isle of Mull PA65 6AY

Phone 01680 812900 Email enquiries@mict.co.uk

TO CONFIRM: Office opening hours have never been stated on the old site. A reader phoning about an urgent problem needs to know when someone will answer.

TO CONFIRM: The old site publishes facilities@mict.co.uk and describes a Facilities Manager coordinating the defibrillator checks, but no such post appears on the staff list. Confirm the address is still monitored and who monitors it.

TO CONFIRM: Community transport contacts conflict across the old site. One old page gives 07775531301 and info@ufcb.org.uk with the site ufcb.org.uk, another points to ulvaferrytransport.co.uk with no number. Confirm the current booking number, email and website before either appears here, and then link to the community transport service page rather than repeating them.

MICT is a company limited by guarantee registered in Scotland, number SC172897, and a Scottish charity, number SC025995.
