Sustainable Mull and Iona

An open advisory group that gives MICT information and advice on sustainability, from waste to energy and biodiversity.

Sustainable Mull and Iona is an advisory group. It gives Mull and Iona Community Trust information and advice on a wide range of sustainability questions. Membership is free and open to anyone.

The group was formed on 21st September 2011, based on the membership of Mull Renewables.

Its aspiration is to see Mull and Iona develop consistently as a sustainable place, and to play a full part in that. These are special places with special resources, and their communities are caring, creative and resourceful – the building blocks for the islands’ future.

What the group looks at

The old website listed three areas of work:

  • The potential for a zero waste target for Mull and Iona.
  • The opportunities for a long term Biodiversity Action Plan.
  • Building on energy conservation work – HEEPS-ABS, ACCESS and Community Transport – towards the islands becoming self-sufficient in energy.

TO CONFIRM: This list is undated and predates the clean energy work now under way, so it reads as out of date. HEEPS-ABS and ACCESS are named without explanation and we have no live page to link either to. Needs MICT input on what the group is actually looking at now.

Joining

Membership is open to any individual, business or organisation based in Mull and Iona who supports the group’s objectives. The group can also co-opt members. Meetings are run according to the constitution of Mull and Iona Community Trust.

TO CONFIRM: There is no contact name, email, phone number or meeting schedule anywhere on the old page, so nobody reading it can act on the invitation to join. We also need to know whether the group still meets. If it does not, this page should be rewritten as a record of past work.
